Why Furano Ski Resort
Central Hokkaido's iconic resort — drier, lighter powder than coastal Niseko, Olympic-grade grooming, and a real Japanese onsen town at the base.
Central Hokkaido; direct JR train access
Plan your trip
Furano sits in the centre of Hokkaido, ~190 km north of Sapporo. JR train access is the headline — but the airport shuttle, rental car, and local Lavender Bus are all real options depending on your style of trip.
Long-haul gateways and the cheapest domestic hops.
New Chitose is Hokkaido's main international gateway — direct flights from Hong Kong, Taipei, Bangkok, Seoul, Singapore.
Tokyo Haneda → Sapporo (CTS) is one of the busiest air routes in the world; ~1.5 hrs, multiple departures every hour.
Trains, shuttles, and rentals from the airport.
Direct New Chitose Airport (CTS) → Furano. ~2 hrs 30 min, no transfers, comfort break en route. Daily Dec 1 – Mar 30.
¥500 flat fare from JR Furano Station to New Furano Prince Hotel. Runs Dec 1 – Mar 31, multiple times per day.
Hand-picked stays across the resort's two zones.
Two zones to choose from: Kitanomine (ski-in/ski-out, lively) or Furano Zone (onsen, upscale, quieter).
Ski-in/ski-out at the base of the Furano Zone gondola. On-site Hot Spring Hakuginnoyu onsen and the Ningle Terrace artisan village.
The original Prince Hotel in Kitanomine Zone — opposite the Kitanomine Gondola, walking distance to bars and restaurants.
Contemporary 1–3 bedroom suites 10 m from the Kitanomine Gondola. Concierge, ski lockers, on-site restaurant — peak luxury in town.
Boutique 4-star next to JR Furano Station. Best base for travellers arriving by train without a car.
Pass, lessons, gear, and guides for powder days.
All-mountain access to both Kitanomine and Furano zones (9 lifts, 28 trails). Kids 12 and under ski free.
Three established English-speaking schools at Furano: FISS, Furano Snow School (Sportpia), and Visnow.
Rhythm in the Fenix Furano building (gondola access) and Sportpia at Kitanomine cover all levels — premium powder boards, kit, free swaps.
Furano sits within a 90-min drive of Asahidake, Kamui Ski Links, Tomamu, and Tokachidake — guides cover all four.
Onsen soaks and rest-day excursions nearby.
Blue Pond illuminations, snowmobile tours across Shikisai-no-Oka, hot air balloon at sunrise, ice smelt fishing, Shirahige Falls.
Soak after skiing — Shirogane Onsen, Tokachidake Onsen, and Hakuginnoyu at the New Furano Prince all sell day-use entry.
Cover, connectivity, and bag forwarding before you fly.
Activate before you fly. ~$10–15 for 7 days vs $35–60 for pocket WiFi. Coverage is strong across Hokkaido ski areas.

destination resort
A quieter corner of Niseko United, anchored by two ski-in ski-out hotels and the same consistent powder that draws the world to Mt Annupuri.

powder-focused
The westernmost face of Mt Annupuri — mellower lifts, easier access to the gate-managed backcountry, and noticeably thinner crowds than Hirafu.

powder-focused
A powder bowl and hooded-quad tree runs on the north face of Annupuri, shared with the Park Hyatt — cold, consistent, and often the least crowded of the four Niseko United areas.
